The kids were really excited about Valentines Day this year, because lately they are excited about everything. So we've entered into this stage of childhood where everything is exciting because now everything makes sense. We perused Pinterest for Valentine Card ideas and Declan and Isabella each picked their favorites. Declan's (and Quinn's) involved worms--of course. And Isabella's involved friendship bracelets (of course). They did have a lot of fun making their Valentines this year. Even if Isabella's involved braiding twenty two friendship braclets and lacing them through a pin hole sized space on the actual card. Oh yeah, and Isabella also can't braid. Details, details.
She had her first little Valentine party at school and came home with her bag of Valentines, eager to show and share with Declan and Quinn. She emptied her bag onto the floor and read through each card with commentary on every classmate while also questioning why someone would give her a Spiderman or Transformers card but never questioning those with kittens and Barbie. Kids are funny.
We spent the majority of the week making lots of hearts, writing lots of 'I love yous' and talking about what we love about each other. Declan and Quinn had Valentines to give to the kids at mom's. She ended up injuring her foot that day and many of the kids didn't come, so they brought their gifts over anyway and shared some love with their cousins.
Zoey has super star status when she comes to visit. Everyone's always competing for her love!
And the littlest love bug is not so little anymore.
Two peas in a pod
We also had a birthday celebration a couple weeks ago. Danielle turned five and had the kid's "dream birthday" at the pool. Our kids had never been to an indoor pool so they were beyond excited. They jumped right in, Isabella swam, Declan played and splashed and Quinn held on tight to Ryan's neck, but loved it. It was a great mid-winter break from the usual and they are now beyond ready for summer.
We had parent-teacher conferences today at Isabella's school. She is do wonderfully and we couldn't be more happy about her adjustment.
Her only confusion apparently lies in where she lives. During their post-office unit, they had to write their address and draw a picture. Isabella apparently told her teacher (when she prompted her with the address that is listed on her card) that she wasn't sure if that was correct or not. She knew our old address and I guess she knew that Ryan's parent's address didn't sound quite right. In the end she said "I don't know" and just wrote 'I live with my grandma.'
It's T-minus one month until we should be closing on our house. The kids are so excited and Ryan and I are SO excited. We've been making plans for our to-do list, the kids think they have their bedrooms all planned out, which means they decided that they are all sleeping together in one room and one bed. They are ready to clean, peel wallpaper (for days...), and lift boxes. Here we go--again.
