If we want to appreciate any 'outside' time, it has to start by 9am. Otherwise the combination of heat and bugs just makes us all a little cranky.
So, 9am it is. Already filling up the water table.
It seems to be the common theme around here for Isabella and Declan to "adopt" a game or activity for the week. When we are home they play full force, this chosen activity. Last week it was "Empty the toy basket and the dvd basket. Fill one with a wool ball and wooden dog pull toy. The other with a decorative cement-like bunny and a bottle. Then go to your 'respective house' (i.e. the bedroom for Isabella, living room for Declan) and knock on eachother's doors, visit, leave, repeat." Lots of other dialogue happens that I'm not always privvy too. They read books to their animals. Trade baskets, etc. But all week, it's that one game.
This week was 'pots and food.' So they cleaned out my pots and pans drawer in search of the smallest ones. Collected wooden play food, cooking utensils, and maybe some dry cereal or crackers, and they were chefs for the week.
It's pretty cute to see the imaginations working to formulate these creative games, usually instigated by Isabella.
Declan kept telling Quinn not to get his "food" wet. He told her it would get all "mowdy" (moldy).
In staying with the 'only eat cold food' theme, we went to Split Banana with Kelly and Eleanor one day. I heard that Chocolate Sorbet and Sticky Rice Gelato were on the menu. Mention sticky rice, and I'm there.
This girl is all about her chocolate. And she likes it dark!
Quinn is not shy. Not at all. Approach her, then yes, she acts shy. But as long as everyone keeps doing what they're doing, she is all about exploring. Pretty sure she thinks she's two. Forget one.
Such a Declan look.
But when I look back in the car, and see her tiny little feet barely touching the seat, I remember that she's just my baby. Whether she thinks so or not.
